Why it isn't OK to just "stand respectfully for a benediction at an after-school event"

In the wake of a recent Supreme Court Decision, there's a renewed discussion about the line between voluntary and involuntary prayer in the public sector, particularly school events. This indeed is a difficult distinction to perceive, particularly if you don't have an objection to the prayer itself.

The issue is this; if students vote to have an invocation at a school event (football game or graduation) and then separately vote on who will give the invocation, is this establishment of religion, or creation of a public forum for first-amendment-protected freedom of religion?
