Material: 4ply worsted yarn (3 1/2oz skein) 19 skeins
size I crochet hook
Stitches used: Chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double
crochet, half double crochet.
Gauge: 1 shell (8 dc)= 3 in.; 7 rows = 4 in.
Directions: ch 257.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook; dc in next 6 ch, *sk next 2 ch, in
next ch work 3 dc, ch 2, and 3 dc - shell made; sk next 2
ch, dc in next 8 ch; rep from * across. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Skip first st, dc in front lp of next 7 dc, * work shell in
ch-2 sp of shell, dc in front lp of next 8 dc; rep from *
across, working last dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Rep row 2 until piece measures approximately 72 in., omit ch 3 at
end of last row; do not turn.
Border: with right side facing, ch 2, work 2 sc in last dc for
corner, work sc evenly spaced along side of afghan to next
corner, work 3 sc in corner, sc in each st across bottom of
afghan; work 3 sc in corner, work sc evenly spaced along side
of afghan to next corner, work 3 sc in corner, work hdc in
back lp of each st across top of afghan, join with sl st to
first ch. fasten off.
